Delete Your Data

You do not have to close your VIDI account to delete things from it. Most of your data can be removed by you, in the app, permanently and immediately — and anything that cannot, we will delete on request.

What you can delete yourself

Each of these deletes permanently and on the spot. There is no request to send, no reason to give, and no waiting period. Your account and everything else in it are untouched.

Data	Where
Your profile photo	Profile → Settings → Remove photo. The stored image file is deleted, not merely unlinked from your profile.
Your display name	Profile → Settings → Change display name, then clear it. Your username can be changed at any time.
A post or comment you wrote	Open your own post or comment and delete it. Any image, GIF or video attached to it is deleted with it.
A show, movie or game, and its history	Open its page and remove it from your library. This clears its tracked status together with the check-ins, score and reactions you recorded for it.
A single episode watch	Mark a watched episode as unwatched to delete that one watch record on its own.
Favourites	Remove any favourited title or person.
Push notification data	Profile → Settings → Notifications, then turn notifications off. This deletes the device's push token from our records, so the device stops being addressable.

These controls are in the iPhone, Android and web apps alike, except where noted: removing a profile photo is available on Android and the web today, and is being added to iOS.

Ask us to delete something else

If you want data removed that is not in the list above — or you would rather we did it for you — email us and say what you want deleted. Write from the address linked to your account, or include your VIDI username so we can identify it.

Ask us to delete specific data

We act without undue delay and, in any case, within 30 days, as required by Art. 17 GDPR. We will tell you what was deleted. Your account stays open and everything you did not ask about stays as it is.

What we cannot delete on request

Aggregated, anonymized usage counts that can no longer be linked to you.
Records we are legally required to keep for a limited time. These are retained only as long as the law requires, then deleted.
Backups, which are purged on our provider's normal rotation rather than edited in place.

Catalog data — shows, movies, games, people — is not your personal data and is unaffected by any deletion.
